The University of Melbourne is looking for an emerging, motivated Research Fellow for Nueroengineering Research Fellowship to contribute to a multidisciplinary project at the forefront between neuroscience, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This role will work in the Bionics, Biomedical Imaging and Neuroengineering group, comprised of leading internationally recognized researchers. You will work on a multidisciplinary project on perception, navigation, and spatial awareness, in which the insights and mechanisms from neuroscience and the modelling of neural systems, particularly of vision and other sensory systems, can be analyzed and used to inspire applications in autonomous robots and other artificial systems.

Department of Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a vibrant community of internationally recognized researchers focused on driving research and education in medical technologies, health informatics, and healthcare delivery. Combining the expertise of engineers, biomedical researchers, clinical practitioners, and industry partners, we create innovative medical solutions that have a societal and economic impact. They have long-standing, strong partnerships with industry and government that support their researchers in conducting high impact research.


Salary: $91,125 - $97,812 p.a. (Level A) or $102,967 - $122,268 p.a. (Level B). Appointment level based on qualification and experience.

ELIGIBILITY

They are looking for a self-motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively with the team as well as lead their own research activities.


To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:


  • A PhD in the area of computational neuroscience, neural modelling, bio-signal or statistical signal processing, or an equivalent qualification.

  • A record of quality research

  • Strong theoretical and analytical skills

  • A commitment to pursuing the relevant research topics

  • An ability to show initiative and prioritise tasks

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work as part of a team
