About the Summit
The Russia–Africa Summit will be held on 23–24 October 2019 at the Sochi Olympic Park Main Media Centre and will be co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President and African Union Chairman Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.
The Russia–Africa Summit is the first event of its kind in the history of Russian-African relations to which the head of every African state and the leaders of major regional associations and organizations have been invited.
The Summit plenary sessions will look to discuss a wide range of issues on the international agenda and to compare views on pressing issues of vital interest to Russia and Africa.
The Summit will focus particular attention on actual and potential relations between Russia and the nations of Africa, the development of interaction in the political, economic, humanitarian, and cultural fields among others with an emphasis on finding ways to accelerate and develop the entire range of Russian-African cooperation in a systematic way.
Plans call for an in-depth exchange of views on the development of coordinated measures to counter-terrorism, cross-border crime, and other challenges and threats to regional and global security.
About the forum
The Forum will be attended by African heads of state, representatives of Russian, African, and international business and government agencies, and representatives of African integration associations.
The Forum will be a strategically important step towards creating favourable conditions for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Africa and will also diversify the forms and areas of Russian-African cooperation.
A significant set of trade, economic, and investment agreements are expected to be signed following the conclusion of the Forum.
The business programme will include a plenary session and a series of roundtables and panel discussions.
Participants will discuss the following topics: the role of Russia’s agenda in Africa and its promotion, Africa’s role in the international financial system, expanding cooperation, export and investment, as well as security challenges.
Participants will also be treated to eventful cultural and sports programmes.
Participation in the Russia–Africa Economic Forum is by invitation only.
The Russia–Africa Summit and Economic Forum will be held at the Sochi Olympic Park Main Media Centre.
Only those individuals who have received an invitation from the Organizing Committee may attend the Forum.
Interested parties must submit an application to participate.
Participant applications will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee. If approved, applicants will receive an invitation and an information letter giving the username and password to their personal web office and details on how to confirm participation.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to refuse an application without explanation.
Participation in the Russia–Africa Economic Forum is free.
