STEP (Shakti-The Empathy Project) Incubation Program for Early Stage Women Social Entrepreneurs

STEP (Shakti-The Empathy Project) is an incubation program for women-led early-stage startups creating social impact. We envision an India where all women social entrepreneurs are empowered. The program launched in 2019 rests on five pillars: empathetic community, capacity building, mentorship, role modelling and networking & funding opportunities. Our belief is that supporting women entrepreneurs is not just socially relevant but also economically important.

Induction A 4 day bootcamp to connect with your mentors, work on your product and understand some important aspects of your business from sector experts. A safe space to connect, collaborate and exchange ideas with other women social entrepreneurs in the cohort. Prepare your theory of change Theory of Change is a specific type of methodology for planning, participation, and evaluation. You will define your goals and then map backward to identify necessary preconditions to achieve your goals.

Mentorship A team of mentors support you and build your capacities on Business Plan, Strategy, Leadership, Branding and other topics Workshops Weekly workshops with experts on areas such as Vision & Strategy, Organisation Development & Structure, Competitive Analysis, Hiring Strategies. Building Public Narratives Learn to narrate your story in a way that it touches, moves and inspires others.

Impact measurement Learn to evaluate and communicate the social impact of your organisation. Networking Get an opportunity to meet sector experts, funders, and other like-minded individuals. Follow-on funding Prepare your financial model for investors and learn how to pitch to funders.

Incubation Program (English and Hindi) It is a structured 6-month program for early-stage women entrepreneurs with established proof of concept. The program will rest on the 5 pillars of STEP- empathetic community, capacity building, mentorship, role modelling and networking & funding opportunities. They will be provided with necessary support through various sessions and mentorship. All participants will become part of the vibrant STEP community. The program runs between September – February. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Anyone who identifies as a woman

  • 18+ years of age no upper age limit

  • Established proof of concept

  • Registered entity

  • Social impact
