The Public Diplomacy Section invites proposals for programs that support one of the following
U.S. Embassy priority program areas listed below.
2026 and 2027 marks two significant milestones in U.S.-Ghana relations: the United States’
250th anniversary of independence (Freedom 250) and the 70th anniversary of Ghana’s
independence and established diplomatic relations with the United States. These historic
occasions provide unique opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties, celebrate shared values of
democracy and freedom, and deepen partnerships that advance mutual prosperity and security.
Examples of Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program programs include, but are not limited to:
• Academic and professional lectures, seminars and speaker programs;
• Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances and exhibitions;
• Professional and academic exchanges and programs;
• Media training and engagement activities;
• Youth entrepreneurship and business forums;
• STEM education and innovation programs;
• Interfaith dialogue and religious tolerance initiatives;
• Alumni engagement and network-building activitiesEligible Applicants
The following organizations are eligible to apply:
• Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations
• Public and private educational institutions
• Individuals
• Public International Organizations and Governmental institutions
This opportunity will not support:
• Projects relating to partisan political activity;
• Charitable or development activities; including direct social services such as medical,
psychological, and/or humanitarian support
• Construction projects;
• Projects that support specific religious activities;
• Fund-raising campaigns;
• Lobbying for specific legislation or programs
• Scientific research or surveys;
• Commercial projects;
• Projects intended primarily for the growth or institutional development of the
organization;
• Projects that duplicate existing projects; or
• Illegal activities
